Wanted suspect killed in Imbali shooting

A suspect wanted for the April 2024 murder of a police officer and other crimes was killed Sunday during a shootout with SAPS and security members. Khanyisani Radebe of Aphiwe Protection Services said the suspect had been on the run for at least four months and an arrest warrant had been issued.

“At 12:00 today, information was received about his whereabouts and the specialised Task Team comprising Aphiwe Protection Services, District Task Team, DPCI Pietermaritzburg, PMB K9, PMB TRT and Plessislaer Anti-Crime Task Team mobilised and tracked the suspect at Imbali Unit BB. When he was approached and saw that they were SAPS members, he started shooting. Members returned fire and the suspect was fatally injured,” Radebe said.
