Little Rock man reported missing after truck found abandoned in Newton County | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office and Little Rock police are working together to locate a missing Little Rock man after his truck was found abandoned in Newton County, according to a news release from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Clyde Holmes, also known as Clyde Boatwright Jr., 41, left his home in Little Rock on July 10, the news release said. Holmes is described in the news release as a black male, approximately 5′ 10″, with black dreadlocks.

On July 11, at approximately 5 a.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an abandoned truck on a county road near Highway 74 East between Jasper and Piercetown. The officer dispatched to the scene found the truck locked and “pulled to one side of the county road to allow traffic to pass,” according to the press release.

The investigating deputy checked the area around the truck and spoke to people in the area about the abandoned vehicle, but could not find anyone connected to the truck. The deputy had the truck towed and entered a nationwide law enforcement network as impounded.

According to the press release, a Little Rock police detective investigating Holmes’ disappearance contacted the Newton County Sheriff’s Office on July 19 after finding the entrance to the impounded truck in Newton County.

Newton County authorities returned to the location where the truck was abandoned to conduct a more thorough search of the area and obtained a search warrant for the truck. Neither search yielded any information on Holmes’ location. The press release states that Holmes has no known ties to Newton County.

The truck was last seen in Little Rock before 12:30 a.m. on July 11. It is unknown what time the truck was abandoned.

Authorities from Newton County and Little Rock have planned specific searches through Monday, the release said. They have deployed specialized K-9 teams and a trained ground search team to assist in the search for Holmes.

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler is asking any Newton County residents who may have seen Holmes anywhere in the area since July 10 to contact his office at (870)446-5124.

Anyone with possible information regarding the investigation is encouraged to contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office or Detective AJ Boyd of the Little Rock Police Department at (501)-404-3016.
