Seguin Senior All-Stars thump Arkansas to move to Southwest tournament semifinals; game to air on KWED

(Seguin) — The Seguin Senior League All-Stars are in the semifinals of the Southwest Regional Senior Little League Baseball Tournament after routing Arkansas, 16-3 on Sunday afternoon at Smokey Joe Williams Field.

Corey Dailey started the game on the mound and went three and a third scoreless innings striking out seven and allowing only one hit. He also scored three runs batting from the leadoff spot and had two hits including a double.

Seguin jumped on the all-stars from Little Rock with four runs in the top of the first inning. Dailey, Colton Taft, Connor Cheatham and Will Gray Mahaffey all had base hits as the first four batters all singled and scored to get Seguin off to a fast start. The Seguin All-Stars sent eight men to the plate to start the game.

In the top of the fourth, Seguin sent 10 batters to the plate in a six-run frame. Brayden Monroe and Gavin Harrison each drove in a pair of runs with hits in the big inning.

Seguin has scored 30 runs in their last two games of the tournament. The Senior Little League Division team eliminated Louisiana in a 14-8 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Louisiana, Arkansas and New Mexico have been knocked out of the double-elimination tournament. Only teams from Texas remain. Seguin will play either Hondo or Victoria in the semifinals on Monday evening. The championship will be held on Tuesday. The winner of the tournament will advance to the Senior Little League World Series in Easley, South Carolina starting next Saturday.
