Disc Golfers Compete in Saskatoon at NADGT Canada Premier

On Sunday, Diefenbaker Park in Saskatoon was the scene of the NADGT Canada Premier, an amateur disc golf tournament.

Saskatoon has three disc golf courses, with the Diefenbaker Park course dubbed the city’s “Augusta.” This year, it hosted the Canada Premier, where teams of disc golfers from across the Prairies competed for a chance at victory.

This event is one of many that have taken place in the province in recent weeks.

“There are 4-5 different events spread out across the course and you get points for those,” said Trent Trew of Saskatoon Disc Golf.

“Then there’s a world event that the amateurs get to play in. It’s a lot of fun, a local event where we play a couple of rounds in Swift Current, one in North Battleford, one in Abbotsford yesterday and then another one today (Sunday),” Trew said.

The tournament is for amateurs and offers recreational players the opportunity to gain a sporting experience at a national level.

The winning team will have the opportunity to compete in the national competition later this year in Austin, Texas.
