Pitching Staff Combines for Gem in Series Final Win Over Shuckers

BILOXI, MS – The Montgomery Biscuits (49-41, 9-12) went seven innings without a hit against the Biloxi Shuckers (44-44, 14-7) in a 4-1 victory to save the final game of the series on Sunday night at Keesler Federal Park.

Heriberto Hernandez hit his second home run in three games, driving in three of the four runs. He accounted for five of the club’s nine runs in the series. His home run came in the first inning and made it 2-0.

Sean Hunley threw four hitless innings in his fourth start of the season, returning to the club for the game after making an appearance for Triple-A Durham.

Haden Erbe followed with a scoreless fifth inning and Antonio Menendez gave up no hits in his first two innings, allowing the no hitter to last into the seventh inning.

The Biscuits scored two more runs in the sixth inning, making it 4-0.

A leadoff homer broke the no-hitter in the eighth. Menendez still pushed for a season-high three innings, and Alfredo Zarraga picked up his fifth save with a ninth-inning shutout.

The club has scheduled a day off prior to a six-game series against the Mississippi Braves (Double-A Affiliate, Atlanta Braves) at Riverwalk Stadium.
