“It is a sad inevitability that I did vote for and support Biden in the last election,” said Biden voter Scott Harris.

On Sunday, just minutes after the news broke, I took to the streets to ask questions.

“I voted Third Party,” said Independent Drew Kuespert.

“I am a Republican conservative,” said Republican Susan Davis.

“I am an independent voter, but I voted for Biden,” said Independent Joe Nehls.

Neighbors I spoke to said they saw it coming.

“I’m not really surprised, I think it was something very necessary if the Democrats were going to win the election,” Nehls said.

“I think it’s for the best. I think it’s very important that we have candidates who are energetic and ready to move forward with this country,” Kuespert said.

“I think it’s a good thing, I don’t think he has the mental capacity to be president anymore, so it’s good for the Democratic Party. It’ll be interesting to see who he brings to his cause,” Davis said.

And as for who might take his place in the election, Biden has endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, and his neighbors are divided.

“I support Vice President Harris 120 percent, we need to rally behind her,” said Democrat Jerimic Clayborn III.

“I’m neutral, I wish she had been a more public figure over the last four years,” Nehls said.

“Harris to me has been ineffective in everything she has done. Harris is a real drain on the Democratic Party,” Davis said.

Neighbors also weighed in on whether they thought this would help Democrats.

“I think it has the potential to benefit Democrats,” Nehls said.

“I think it’s positive for the Democratic Party. I’m not a Democrat myself, but I think it’s definitely positive for the Democratic Party and it’s going to give them a boost,” Kuespert said.

“No, I think it’s going to hurt. I know people who are going in different directions, but I think it’s going to hurt,” said Biden voter Christina Arensheydenreich.

No one can say for sure, so only time will tell whether President Biden’s decision to withdraw will be beneficial or not.
