Anyway, we still have some local news from the weekend to catch up on, so let’s get started.

The Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office has begun deploying more Automated Traffic Enforcement Speed Program wearable cameras in five school zones. These zones are Annapolis Area Christian School, Folger McKinsey Elementary, Key School, Odenton Elementary and Nantucket Elementary. Beginning July 24, the cameras will be active with a 15-day warning period. Slow down. Save a life!

Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2024-2025 Best Hospital, ranking 8th in Maryland and 6th in the Baltimore Metro Area. The hospital excelled in eight specialties, including cardiac care and orthopedics. These honors reflect the institution’s high standards for clinical outcomes, nursing care and patient experience.

Under Armour is testing a new store concept at its Annapolis Mall store, cutting product inventory by half to create a more premium feel. The move is part of CEO Kevin Plank’s strategy to elevate the brand. The remodeled store offers more space for best-selling products and “launch zones” to highlight new items. Despite fewer products, sales haven’t dropped, and customer feedback has been positive.

Unity Gardens, a small but mighty nonprofit, is accepting proposals for native gardening projects in Anne Arundel County through August 1, 2024. Grants of up to $3,000 are available for the installation of trees and shrubs, and $1,000 for perennials. The program supports pollinator habitat creation and other conservation projects. Since its founding in 2003, Unity Gardens has awarded more than $600,000 to more than 600 local organizations. Info at UnityGardens.org And check out the podcast we did with them a while back!

Hopefully you saw our Canines and Crosstreks with Harpy on Friday. If you missed it, go back and listen! And then call the SPCA and give Harpy her forever home!

On Saturday’s Local Business Spotlight, we spoke with Olivia from Abode Title & Escrow to wrap up our mini-series on real estate! Lots of great information for anyone looking to buy or sell a home. And next week, a tech startup called Wager Pager, and fun fact: the founder and CEO is a 25-year-old graduate of St. Anne’s Day School, now St. Anne’s School of Annapolis!

Okay, that’s it – first of all I want to thank YOU, and also a quick thank you to our sponsors for today’s Daily News Brief – Annapolis Subaru, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, Solar Energy Services, and Hospice of the Chesapeake.

Ann Covington is taking the week off, but her Money Monday Report will be back next week, BUT George Young from DCMDVA Weather is also here with the only local weather report you should care about! That’s all coming up soon, so stick around!
