Police and troops clear debris during protests in Portland and St. Mary

Police and troops are busy clearing debris piled up by protesting residents in parts of Portland and St. Mary’s this morning.

Residents are angry about the lack of electricity in their communities after Hurricane Beryl on July 3, causing them to block roads at Windsor Castle in Portland.

Parts of Annotto Bay and the Junction main road in St. Mary are also affected.

Police have now cleared some debris at Windsor Castle and Annotto Bay, allowing commuters to return to a single lane.
