Chelsea signs American defender Wiley, 19, from Atlanta United

Chelsea have signed American left-back Caleb Wiley from Major League Soccer club Atlanta United on a six-year deal, the Premier League club announced on Monday.

Chelsea did not disclose financial details, but British media reported the deal was worth around £8.5 million ($11 million).

Wiley comes from Atlanta’s youth academy and made his MLS debut in 2022, playing in 85 games and scoring six goals.

He made his US debut last year in a 1-1 draw against Mexico.

Wiley is with the US team in Paris in preparation for the Olympic Games. REUTERS
