Man, 28, dies in single-vehicle crash Sunday morning southwest of Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning just southwest of Topeka, authorities said.

The accident was reported around 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of SW Auburn Road.

Shawnee County Sheriff’s officials reported that a gray 2019 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on SW 33rd Street when it ran a stop sign at SW Auburn Road.

The car then crashed into a tree on the west side of the road, sheriff’s officials said.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.

Shawnee County sheriff’s officials identified the driver as Chance M. Lucas, 28, of Topeka.

The investigation into the crash was still ongoing on Monday.
