Senator Peters says Kamala Harris is an ‘outstanding candidate’ for president

LANSING, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — President Joe Biden announced his exit from the presidential race on Sunday.

He also endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris; an endorsement that has been echoed by most elected Democrats.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has endorsed Harris, as well as Democratic Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow.

Sen. Peters said he considers Harris a friend, having sat next to and worked with her in the US Senate.

“She is a woman of character, of integrity, but – probably most importantly – of just passion. She cares so deeply about this country, she cares deeply about the people that she was elected to serve,” Sen. Peters said.

“I think it’s safe to say that you cannot be the President of the United States unless you win in Michigan,” Sen. Peters said. “We will be the center of the electoral universe. And I know that when she gets out and people get to see her for who she is, they are going to like what they see; and particularly in contrast with her opponent for (the) presidency.”
