Team Colorado wins a Tad Ball game against Aftershocks, 65-61

Baseball sucks, watch the tournament instead. Team Colorado has been a fixture in the alumni-based basketball tournament since its second year (Marcus Hall was great), and under head coach Zach Ruebesam, they’ve turned around and expanded their umbrella to include Colorado natives who want to play. This year’s team includes recent fan favorites D’shawn Schwartz and Evan Battey, TBT veteran Shannon Sharpe, former CU guard Daylen Kountz and Colorado high school senior Josh Adams. George King and NBA star Andre Roberson are also key players in the rotation. After beating the Kansas State alumni team (eat up, Jacob Pullen), they played Kansas’ hometown team, the Aftershocks, on Monday night and really made things interesting.

The first half was a comedy of errors for both teams, with 19 combined turnovers. Connor Frankamp, unintentionally wearing a friar’s cut, sliced up the guards for Team Colorado, who got just enough offense from George King and Roberson to take a 1-all lead. The halftime score was 33-32, a classic Tad Boyle stat line.

In the second half, the Aftershocks came on and hit turnaround 2s like they were nothing. Team Colorado couldn’t stop giving the ball away and it looked like it would be the end of the run.

UNTIL.

Denver native Jaizec Lottie, who attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Flagler, took over the point guard duties and made it work. He turned into a fireball and drove hard to the rim, and Team Colorado started getting outside shots. After he activated the Elam Ending (which is awesome, by the way), CU had to get to 65 before the Aftershocks did. Things got a little rough, but a classic Andre Roberson weakside rebound led to a familiar face:
