Cupp Right Amount For Tasty Mudcats Playoffs Opening Win Monday

Nathan Cupp, a 2022 Marceline High School graduate in his third summer of college-level, wood-bat baseball with the Chillicothe Mudcats, was one of the heroes of Monday night’s 3-2 MINK League playoff quarterfinal victory in Sedalia. Cupp, appearing in an early-season game in Trenton, had three singles, including run-scoring hits in the second and eighth innings, and intercepted a runner on second base on the first out of the sixth to prevent the host Bombers from taking the lead in the game on July 22. His eighth-inning hit to right-center field set up Jorey Anderson from second base for what proved to be the deciding run in the Mudcats’ first postseason victory since 2019.
