Amer Ibrahim, 52, died after a three-car collision on July 20 near 19e Avenue and Bethany Home Road, Phoenix police reported Monday.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

In an earlier press release, police said speed appeared to be a factor in the collision that occurred around 9:15 p.m.

Preliminary information suggests that a vehicle traveling westbound on Bethany Home Road collided with another vehicle after the second vehicle made a westbound turn onto Bethany Home Road from 19the Avenue.

Both vehicles “were pushed into oncoming traffic, causing a second collision with a third vehicle traveling eastbound on Bethany Home Road,” the press release said.

Ibrahim was the driver of the third vehicle.

The man driving one of the vehicles and the woman driving the other were seriously injured and taken to hospital. Another adult in the crash was released from hospital after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a decision on charges will not be made until after the accident reconstruction is completed.
