‘I didn’t like the stress of hiding my pregnancy’

Hailey Bieber’s pregnancy was kept secret for six months before she revealed it to the public. But the decision came with emotional challenges.

“I probably could have hidden it until the end,” the model and Rhode founder, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Justin Bieber, told W-magazine in a recently published cover story for the publication’s special summer edition.

The 27-year-old woman went on to say that she “didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy her pregnancy.”

“I felt like I was hiding a big secret, and that didn’t feel right,” she added. “I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”

Hailey and Justin, 30, revealed their baby news in May, sharing the exciting news on Instagram. At the time, a rep for Hailey confirmed to PEOPLE that she was just over six months pregnant.

The couple married in a New York City courthouse in September 2018, just two months after getting engaged. They later celebrated with a larger ceremony for family and friends, exchanging vows and Tiffany wedding rings as the sun set in Bluffton, South Carolina.

In her conversation with WHailey said she’s “not that close to her family right now in her life” because she’s “very independent” and “on my own, and I’ve built my own family.”

She also shared that the beginning of her pregnancy was a “super emotional” time for her as she reflected on the current dynamics within her immediate family.

“Like, ‘I love this person so much. How can I bring anyone else into this?'” she explained. “I’m trying to take in these days of Justin and me, just the two of us.”
