Indianapolis Ranks 94th in ACSM Fitness Index – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The American College of Sports Medicine, in partnership with the Elevance Health Foundation, released the 17th annual American Fitness Index.

The ACSM Fitness Index ranks the 100 largest U.S. cities based on healthy, active lifestyles.

One of the top cities was Arlington, Virginia, which was named America’s fittest city for the seventh year in a row, followed by Seattle, Washington and Washington DC.

“The Fitness Index is a powerful tool that can help us address the physical, behavioral and social determinants of health in communities, while providing the data and expertise to empower both advocates and city leaders,” said Shantanu Agrawal, MD, Chief Health Officer of Elevance Health.

Indianapolis is ranked 94th. According to the index, Indianapolis had an overall score of 29.7.

The highest in movement with 68.5% movement in the previous month. However, the Circle City scored the lowest in public transport use with only 1.2%.

Fort Wayne comes in at No. 83, surpassing Indianapolis by 11 spots. The city has an overall score of 36.3.
