Ryan Michael Andrew, had an infectious smile

Ryan Michael Andrew, 16, of Lewes, tragically passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, as a result of an automobile accident. Ryan was born on June 10, 2008, in Newark, to Laura (Armstrong) Andrew and Timothy Andrew. Although he left this world too soon, he left it a better place.

Known for his kind heart, quick wit, and infectious smile and laugh, Ryan left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He lived each day to the fullest and had such an extreme zest for life and fun. He was often found helping his family outside the home, fishing and biking around town with friends, surfing or bodyboarding at the beach, boating and water skiing on his boat, spending time with his grandparents, or working at Quest, which usually included daily stops at Lewes Daily Market. He also enjoyed connecting and laughing with his friends via Facetime while gaming on their X-Box, his annual ski trips with his family and friends, and attending Penn State football games and concerts.

Ryan was a sophomore at Cape Henlopen High School, where he played on the football team, track and field team where he pole vaulted with his stepbrother Eddie, and had recently found his newfound athletic love on the lacrosse team.

In addition to his parents, Laura (Patrick O’Leary) Andrew and Timothy (Alison Houck) Andrew, he is survived by his siblings Ashlyn Andrew and Eddie Houck of Lewes and Ella Marefat of Wilmington; his grandparents Shelia and John Gladstone of Milford, Ted and Diane Andrew, and Renee and Greg Weer of Lewes; his aunt Danielle (Allen) Crouthamel of Paupack, Pa.; aunt Shelly Hartford of Milton; uncle Michael (Kerry Mayer-Carafano) Andrew of Henryville, Pa.; uncle Christopher Gladstone of Dover; aunt Emily Weer of Truckee, Calif.; nieces and nephews Logan and Riley Crouthamel of Paupack, Sara Neubauer of Lake Washington, Wash., Danielle Neubauer of Indianapolis, Ind., Dev Hartford of Milton and Sabrina Gladstone of Dover; and countless friends, teachers and coaches.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, in the Cape Henlopen High School auditorium, Lewes. The family requests that all guests wear beach attire.

The family kindly requests that no flowers be brought and suggests donations be made to the Cape Henlopen Boys’ Lacrosse Boosters, PO Box 589, Nassau, DE 19969.
