Big Lots, a major retailer, recently announced that it will close dozens of stores by the end of the year. The lone Big Lots in Milford will remain open, but four other Big Lots in the Delaware area are expected to close.

Is Big Lots Closing in Delaware?

Big Lots has five locations in Delaware: Dover, Wilmington, Seaford, New Castle and Milford.

There is no mention of any shops closing.

However, several stores in nearby states are expected to close.

Which Big Lots locations in Maryland are closing?

There are 27 Big Lots locations in Maryland. According to the location finder on the Big Lots website, three locations will close before the end of the year.

The Big Lots in Laurel, at 3331 Corridor Marketplace, is closing, as is the Big Lots store in Lexington Park, at 21800 N Shangri La Drive, and the Reisterstown location.

The websites of all three closing Big Lots stores in Maryland have a banner announcing the closure, as well as a 20% discount on remaining inventory.

Which Big Lots locations in Virginia are closing?

There are 42 Big Lots locations in Virginia. According to the location finder on the Big Lots website, two more locations in Virginia are scheduled to close before the end of the year.

The Fredericksburg Big Lots at 736 Warrenton Road will close, as will the Manassas Big Lots at 7743 Sudley Road.

Why is Big Lots closing?

Big Lots announced in its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it plans to open three new stores and close up to 40 locations by the end of the year.

Big Lots pointed in its filing to declining sales due to a decline in net sales and continued declines in sales of Big Lots’ furniture division.

Big Lots also suffered losses due to declining sales of consumer goods, groceries and seasonal items.
