Herky on Parade 3.0

Bobblehead Hall of Fame co-founder Phil Sklar told the Press-Citizen that the most popular bobblehead to date is the “From the Logo Herky,” which combines Clark, a former Iowa basketball legend and two-time Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year, with the university’s instantly recognizable mascot.

The life-size statue, featuring Herky wearing a Clark shirt, and the accompanying nod were designed by local artist Jeff Christensen, who is responsible for the design of more than 10 of the more than 200 Herkys featured in the three editions of Herky on Parade.

The 20th anniversary edition of Think Iowa City’s Herky on Parade kicked off in May with 100 statues of the University of Iowa mascot spread throughout the corridor between Iowa City and Coralville.

The final parade of statues will be on display for another month before they go on public display at FRYFest, the annual opening event held the Friday before Iowa’s first football game.

This year’s images are inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rosy the Riveter and the Transformers series, among others. Many designs are based on regional and popular culture icons.

When can fans get their hands on the Herky bobbleheads?

The bobbleheads are expected to ship starting in November.

“We are excited to release these very special Herky on Parade bobbleheads, which are replicas of the amazing statues found throughout Iowa City,” Sklar said in a statement. “Herky has been a fixture at the University of Iowa for generations and is beloved by Hawkeye fans young and old.

We know these bobbleheads will become collectibles passed down to future generations of Hawkeyes fans in the state of Iowa and beyond.”
