Dallas man dies after raft falls over waterfall in Alaska, troopers say

A Dallas man died during a remote rafting trip in western Alaska on Friday after his inflatable raft went over a waterfall, Alaska State Troopers said.

Larry Erwin, 53, lost control of his raft and was ejected into the water, according to state troopers’ dispatch.

He was about 53 miles southeast of Bethel, Alaska. Troopers were notified of the incident at 6:21 pm on Friday, according to the dispatch.

Erwin was not responsive when pulled to shore, according to the report.

The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center responded, and Erwin’s body and others from the rafting trip were transported to Bethel via helicopter.
