When Does Michigan State Start School? Move-in Dates, Academic Calendar

EAST LANSING — The relative calm on the Michigan State University campus and in downtown East Lansing will not last much longer as move-in day for MSU students quickly approaches.

Soon, tens of thousands of students will be moving again – or moving for the first time – in preparation for the start of the fall semester.

More than 51,000 students were enrolled at MSU last fall. Of those, 9,000 were freshmen. The school’s 27 residence halls and apartments on campus have an occupancy of 18,203.

MSU has introduced a “move-in text” option for students during move-in week that will provide traffic and parking updates, along with other helpful tips right to your phone if you choose to opt in. Sign up by texting MOVEIN2024 to 888777.
