Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Phoenix Rising soars to the top of must-ride list

Theme park fans crave new thrills, and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Phoenix Rising is the latest attraction to satisfy that desire. Similar to the mythical bird in its name, this roller coaster soars to provide an experience that everyone will want to ride.

Over the years, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has expanded its attractions. While some experiences combine the theme park’s connection with its animal encounters, the newest offering takes things to a different level. The Family Coaster is the ride that will have everyone feeling the wind in their face and letting their stomachs drop with every turn.

Billed as the tallest and longest inverted family coaster in North America, this coaster is meant to be a bridge for younger riders to experience bigger thrills. With a height requirement of 42 inches, younger park guests can graduate from the Sesame Street stage to something with a little more adrenaline.

Riders soar, twist and turn across Pantopia. The ride reaches speeds of up to 44 mph. Whether riders keep their hands in their floating seats or hold on tight, that flying feeling is clear. It may not be on the wings of a Phoenix, but it comes close to mythical flight.

In addition, there is a storyline woven into the ride. There are four different versions, fire phoenix, ice phoenix, jungle phoenix and sea phoenix. Many people will ride, and ride again, to experience them all.

Adding a family coaster is smart for Busch Gardens. While sister park SeaWorld Orlando opened Penguin Trek earlier this summer, theme parks realize that these transitional coasters are essential for family guests. Finding rides that appeal to all ages is key to keeping them coming back time and time again.

Phoenix Rising is now open. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay features a wide range of attractions, including thrill rides, animal experiences and food events. For more information about the theme park, hours and tickets, visit the website.
