Exhibition of paintings unveiled at Nevis Social Security Building, created by Howard Pain

Nevis: The exhibition of paintings by the famous artist Howard Pain of Historic Charlestown is displayed in the Social Security Building in Pinneys. The walls of the various government offices in the building are filled with unique styles of paintings and artwork.

The exhibition has been conceived for the Nevis Island Administration for the first time and will run for six months. The paintings have been beautifully curated by the Charlestown Gallery and showcase the vibrant culture of the island nation.

Painters Deborah Tyrell and Clayton Huggins gave authentic explanations of the paintings and shared the stories behind their creation. The unveiling of the paintings was attended by Prime Minister Mark Brantley who caught a glimpse and said the exhibition was amazing.

He invited the people to visit the building and see the artworks created by the famous painters that show the hotspots of Nevis. The exhibition is meant to enhance and appreciate the artworks of painters.

Howard Pain of Historic Charlestown previously hosted a painting exhibition in Nevis through the “Meet the Artist” event on March 29, 2022. The artwork titled “Historic Charlestown: Fine Old Bones” was on display for a week at the Hamilton House Museum, where people were invited to meet the artist and learn about new things in painting.

During the exhibition, Howard Pain showed the unique mix of Nevisian culture with historical aspects through a large format book with paintings and historical commentary.

Howard Pain is a Canadian artist who has lived in Nevis for a long time. He also has a long career in advertising and graphic design, which paved his path to art.

Howard and his wife visited Nevis in 1990 and were enchanted by the scenic beauty of the country. They also decided to set up an art gallery with the intention of returning to his early interest in painting. Since then he has produced great works of art and showcased the stunning and historic architecture of Charlestown.

Howard Pain’s paintings in the exhibition show the authentic culture of Charlestown.
