Canterbury: 13-week road closure will disrupt residents

Motorists have been warned that the 13-week closure of a major Canterbury road could cause disruption.

The A257 Littlebourne Road will be closed from Wednesday until 22 October due to works on the new junction.

The road between St Martin’s Hospital and Chaucer House Care Home is closed.

Kent County Council (KCC) has said a diversion route will be put in place.

Pedestrians can still use the road during the closure.

A KCC spokesman said: “The closure is necessary for the safety of the public and workers while O’Halloran & O’Brien Ltd. carries out new junction works.”

The full diversion route is: the A257 St Martin’s Hill, Longport, Lower Chantry Lane, A2050 New Dover Road, Dover Road, Dover Road Slip East On, A2 Dover Road, Barham Slip Eastbound Off, B2046 Box Iron Road, Adisham Road, High Street , A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, The Hill, Canterbury Road, A257 Littlebourne Road and vice versa.
