Here are 5 things to do in the Springfield area this weekend

Looking for a way to celebrate the weekend after a long week at work?

Get out of the house and find something new and exciting to try this weekend like experiencing contemporary baseball art or go back to a golden oldie hosted by Kapital City Sound.

Baseball art with the Springfield Art Association

What: The Springfield Art Association is presenting a unique exhibit entitled “Baseball,” featuring the watercolor artwork of local artist Rod Buffington and New Jersey-based artist James Fiorentino. Baseball captures the essence of America’s Pastime with delicate brush strokes and vibrant hues. From iconic stadiums to heroes of the game, each painting tells a story of passion, athleticism, and the timeless appeal. While he may be a local now to Sangamon County, Buffington has been traveling the art world since high school. After teaching art education for 23 years, Buffington decided to pursue his passion as an artist, inspired by his grandmother’s quilting, he began painting quilt patterns with watercolor and collaged fabric on paper.
