‘Cancer Services’ hosting weeklong camp for childhood cancer patients and siblings

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Childhood cancer has been diagnosed in approximately one in 285 children in the United States before the child’s twentieth birthday. The effects of the diagnosis, the medical procedures along the way and the cost of the medical bills can take a massive toll on the patient and their families.

That’s why Cancer Services is hosting ‘Camp Care’ for the children, both patients and their siblings this week, from July 22-26. Sponsored by the Newtron Group, children between the ages of five and thirteen will get to enjoy a week full of activities, games, arts and crafts, STEM projects and exciting field trips. The camp is free of charge for campers.

The camp allows campers to focus on being a kid and taking their minds off what comes with being diagnosed with cancer. The children also get to interact with other children going through similar illnesses.

Cancer Services believes in providing therapeutic, free of charge support to cancer patients and families during this difficult time.

This year’s camp is full, however those interested in attending future camps are encouraged to visit cancerservices.org for more information.
