Report: Michigan faces $3.9 billion annual road construction funding shortfall | WKZO | All about Kalamazoo

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new report shows Michigan still has a large gap in road maintenance funding.

TRIP, a national transportation nonprofit, published the report Keeping Michigan Mobile and says inflation is also a problem.

Rocky Moretti, director of policy and research at TRIP, says inflation for highway construction and maintenance was 43% in 2022 and 2023.

21% of the state’s major roads are in poor condition, as are 6% of its bridges.

Transportation officials hope lawmakers can find long-term funding solutions.
