Jefferson City Checkpoint on Missouri River 340 Race Now Open

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KMIZ)

The checkpoint in Jefferson City opened Wednesday morning for participants in the Missouri River 340.

More than 700 racers paddled across the river in this annual cross-state race that began at 7 a.m. Tuesday in Kansas City. The Carl R. Noren Access in Jefferson City is checkpoint number four in the all-day race.

This race is conducted using non-motorized boats, kayaks and canoes and covers a distance of 340 miles (555 km) on the Missouri River to the finish in St. Charles.

The event is sponsored by Missouri American Water and is intended to raise awareness of the importance of the river; it is a reliable source of drinking water for millions of people.

People can follow the racers as they travel across the state on the Missouri River 340 website.
