Long streak of 90-degree heat during Denver’s 7-day

It’s another mild but misty start to the day and the mist will linger for at least two more days.

Smoke is pouring into Colorado from wildfires raging in the Pacific Northwest and even Canada. This will have a dramatic impact on air quality, as an Air Quality Alert has been issued for multiple pollutants through at least 4 p.m. today for the entire Front Range, including the Denver metropolitan area and the Eastern Plains.

Not only will there be high levels of smoke particles around the metro area, but also high levels of ozone. If you have asthma, COPD or other respiratory problems, stay indoors as much as possible. Air quality is expected to remain unhealthy for everyone, while visibility is expected to be extremely poor.

Along with the haze… we’re expecting a lot of heat! Temperatures will soar into the upper 80s by lunch, with mid 90s by happy hour. High 70s and even low 80s in the mountains, both today and tomorrow.

There is a bit of good news, as the smoke from the wildfires looks set to slowly dissipate Thursday night into Friday. Daytime temperatures will soar into the upper 90s to near triple digits along the I-25 corridor, with Thursday likely to be the warmest day of the week.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms look set to return on Friday and continue through the weekend.

Temperatures will drop to around 32 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday, but will then rise quickly again, with temperatures returning to around 35 degrees Celsius early next week.
