» State Baseball Scores: 7/23/24

Carroll/Cedar Rapids, Ia (KICD) – The Class 2A and 4A state baseball quarterfinals were played yesterday, with Class 2A playing at Merchants Park in Carroll and Class 4A playing at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.

In the top of Class 2A, #1 Underwood defeated #8 Unity Christian of Orange City 3-1 and #4 Chariton defeated #5 Pleasantville 7-1. The Eagles and Chargers play tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinals.

For the top of Class 4A, #1 Kennedy of Cedar Rapids defeated #8 Pleasant Valley 6-3 and #4 Johnston defeated #5 Northwest of Waukee 4-3. The Cougars and Dragons play in the semifinals tomorrow at 5 p.m.

The bottom half of Class 2A had #2 New Hampton defeating #7 Aplington-Parkersburg 11-1 and #3 Sumner-Fredricksburg defeated #6 Wilton 6-2. The Chickasaws and Cougars play tomorrow night at 7:00 PM in the semifinals.

In the bottom half of the Class 4A Bracket, #2 Dallas Center-Grimes was defeated by #7 Dowling Catholic of West Des Moines 3-1. The Maroons await the winner of #3 City High of Iowa City and #6 Waukee which were postponed until today at 2:00. The semifinals are played tomorrow night at 7:30.
