Ryan Reynolds Marvels at Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” Looks: ‘Sweet Jiminy’

Lively previously joked to PEOPLE on the red carpet on July 22 that her husband was “supporting” her at the premiere, rather than the other way around.

Ryan Reynolds’ appreciation for Blake Lively is superhero-level.

On Tuesday, July 23, the actor shared a post from Vanity Fair to his Instagram Stories that the Deadpool and Wolverine-inspired outfits worn by his wife and girlfriend Gigi Hadid at the recent premiere of his film.

“Sweet Jiminy Marvel Jesus And Mary Chain,” Reynolds, 47, captioned the ad.

Lively, 36, and Hadid, 29, coordinated their superhero-worthy looks both on the red carpet in New York City and at an afterparty on Monday, July 22, with the It ends with us actress in Deadpool red and the supermodel in Wolverine yellow.

At the premiere, Lively wore a custom-made, long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder red Versace bodysuit with intricate designs, perfect for a night of fashionable crime-fighting. Her hair was pulled back into a high ponytail. Jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira added a bit of bling to the look.

Hadid opted for a custom Miu Miu SS24 RTW yellow set featuring a logo tube top with a matching low-rise yellow skirt. She accessorized with a yellow bag from the fashion house (adorned with String Ting’s Big Love Shorty Bag Charm) and black pumps. The model also wore a vintage Chanel Small Coins Necklace from vintage boutique What Goes Around Comes Around and Alexis Bittar bangles.

Hours later, the friends performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center in another ensemble dedicated to the comic book’s title characters and their signature sunglasses.

Lively arrived arm in arm with her husband Reynolds in a blue pleated Balmain mini dress with red enamel roses from the brand’s spring/summer 2024 collection, complete with red pumps. Gossip Girl alum added more red accents to her look with a matching bow in her hair, which she wore in a high ponytail, a red lip and red nails.

Hadid wore a bright yellow latex LaQuan Smith jacket over a black bodysuit. She completed her striking look with matching yellow So Kate Christian Louboutin pumps, a yellow Miu Miu Matelassé leather bag and large gold jewelry, including earrings, a statement necklace and an anklet.

During a conversation with PEOPLE, Lively joked that he wasn’t supporting Reynolds, but rather her at the premiere.

“He’s here to support me, and I’m very grateful for his support tonight,” she said with a laugh.

The next day, Lively recounted her encounter with *NSYNC members JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone the night before.

“No one will ever know what this moment meant to me. No one. Never. I live in a simulation. My face knows. Happiest person ever,” the A simple favor the actress wrote while sharing Bass’ Instagram post recapping the event, starting with a photo of the group featuring Lively and Reynolds.

Lively specifically thanked her husband for “being the most romantic person on the planet and making all my dreams come true last night via @deadpoolmovie.” She added, “I’m 10 years old and also 36 years old and I’m crying.”

Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theaters from Friday, July 26.
