Que! Bueno opening ice cream and snack shop in West Columbia

Que! Bueno Neveria and Snack Bar will be located at 2213 Augusta Road in West Columbia.

There will soon be a new spot for ice cream and other treats in a bustling area of the Midlands.

Que! Bueno Neveria and Snack Bar is prepping a location at 2213 Augusta Road in West Columbia, in the Georgetown shopping center. That complex includes a host of other businesses, including a Dunkin’ Donuts, a Moe’s Southwest Grill and a Tokyo Grill. The Que! Bueno will be in a storefront that formerly was home to Love-A-Cup Bakery.

The Que! Bueno brand is likely familiar to diners in the Midlands. The company has two full-service Mexican restaurants in the area — one on Broad River Road in Irmo and another on North Lake Drive in Lexington.

The West Columbia location will be a different concept. A neveria is a Mexican ice cream parlor, and typically offers frozen treats and a number of other snacks.

Julio Caliz, a manager for Que! Bueno’s restaurants, said the West Columbia location will offer ice cream, milkshakes, fresh fruit, Mexican street corn and more.

An opening date has not yet been set.

The snack bar will be coming to a high-traffic commercial area just east of Interstate 26. Other businesses near the Georgetown shopping center include a Chick-fil-A, a Planet Fitness, a Hobby Lobby, a Walmart and more. About 38,000 cars per day travel down that stretch of Augusta Road, according to state Department of Transportation data.
