Crown stolen at Puerto Rico Airport returned after woman takes it for safety

San Juan, Puerto Rico: A crown of a beauty queen, María Victoria Bayo, from the Dominican Republic, was stolen at Puerto Rico’s main international airport on Wednesday. The information was shared by the police officials that have been investigating on the case.

According to the reports, the crown that has been stolen is worth $10,000 and I studded with multi-colored Swarovski crystals.

The police officials shared that the incident happened during the early morning hours while the beauty queen left the crown in the case next to a chair at the baggage claim area.

She also informed that the case also included the sash that she has won as Miss World Dominican Republic last year.

According to the police investigation, a 57-year-old Puerto Rican who came to visit the island took over the crown. Following the spread of news of the theft, the woman contacted Bayo through social media and police officers summoned her to the airport headquarters to return the crown.

When asked by officers, the woman who seized the valuable piece of silver and Swarovski crystals shared that the reason for her proceeding was “so that no one else could take it,” according to a police statement.

The women shared that as she saw the bag abandoned, so she took over to keep it safely so as nobody else takes it and misuses it.

Reacting to the news, the netizens have been expressing their views, one shared that “it wasn’t robbery, it was her fault”.

The beauty queen thanked the police for their work and further shared that she is not interested in continuing with the investigation process, after the recovery of the piece.
