Senator Ernst on claims Kamala Harris is a ‘DEI mercenary’ and Trump/Vance will cut off aid to Ukraine

DES MOINES, Iowa (Iowa State Capitol Bureau) — Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican, is not calling Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, a “DEI mercenary” as other Republicans have done; she says she will convince Donald Trump and J.D. Vance not to cut off aid to Ukraine, and she remains hopeful the U.S. will help rescue the remaining hostages held by Hamas.

Ernst answered questions from Washington, DC during an interview with Gray TV Iowa on the following topics:

–Some Republicans claim Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee only because she is a black woman, and they also mock her intelligence and smile.

–Vance, Trump’s running mate, has opposed recent U.S. support for Ukraine as the country has been trying to fend off a Russian invasion since 2022. That raises questions about whether Trump and Vance will end U.S. support for Ukraine if elected.

–Eight American hostages remain in Hamas custody following the terrorist group’s October attack. Palestinians have suffered from famine and lack of medical care since Israel responded to Hamas attacks.
