Guy Fieri’s Son Shares Rare Look at His Dad Without His Spiky Hair During Family Trip to the Lake

Even Guy Fieri’s signature haircut went on vacation during his family’s lake vacation.

On Thursday, July 25, the TV presenter’s son Ryder shared a series of snaps from their vacation on Instagram, including a rare photo of Guy, 56, without his spiky hair.

In the photo, the Emmy winner wore a life jacket and swim shorts as he held up a bottle of his Santo tequila brand. Guy posed on the wakeboard, his blond hair looking more disheveled than usual.

“One to write in the books🏄,” Ryder wrote of their trip to Ruth Lake, California.

Other photos from their trip to the lake include more wakeboarding, boating, hiking, cooking, and lakeside walks. At one point, goat yoga was even on the agenda. Guy’s eldest son Hunter and his fiancée Tara Bernstein tagged along for the trip, documenting the family affair on Instagram.

In a 2019 PEOPLE cover story, the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives The host talked about his signature hair, which he got by accident after a visit to his hairdresser and good friend, Christina Jones.

“I was just in one of those moods one day and I said, ‘Just do what you want.’ She said, ‘What I want?’ ‘Whatever you want,'” Guy recalled. “I’m done and I’m like, ‘Are you going to wash that out, that shampoo?’ She said, ‘No, that’s your hair color.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was a Friday night, like six o’clock. I had to be at the restaurant. I said, ‘No.’ She said, ‘Yes.’ So I put on a hat and walked into the restaurant.”

His wife Lori said she “always” asks him to change it, but it doesn’t help.

“When I first met him, he didn’t have a goatee. He had dark hair. He wore a suit to work every day,” Lori told PEOPLE at the time. “Now I look at him and think, ‘Where is this man I married, with the whole clean cut look?'”

She added that the color used to be seasonal, but the spiked style is still popular.

“I always say, ‘When are you going to change your hair?’ But it stuck and it’s him,” she added. “I tease him sometimes. And I do want a little change sometimes.”

“But that’s like me dying my hair black. I mean, I’m not going to do that for him, so.”
