The Los Angeles Dodgers’ loss is the Boston Red Sox’ gain.

The Red Sox acquired James Paxton in a trade with the Dodgers on Friday.

This will be a reunion for Paxton and Boston. The 35-year-old southpaw spent last season with the Red Sox, going 7-5 with a 4.50 ERA in 19 starts.

Red Sox reporter Chris Cotillo suspects this will be the only new starting pitcher for Boston at the deadline.

The Sox enter regular season play on Friday with a 54-47 record.
