This small town has been named the safest place to live in Iowa

Before you move anywhere, you want to make sure that the city you’re moving to is safe. That’s the first thing you check. Safety can be a subjective thing, like when you ask your realtor, “Is this a safe neighborhood?” My neighborhood is safe, but within the first 3 months of moving there, someone was murdered, which was completely unexpected for my area.

If you are moving to Iowa and safety is your top priority, plan to move to a city where there is not much to do. It is a small city, but Road Snacks has named it the safest city in Iowa.

While no Quad Cities city made the top 3 or top 5, one did appear in the top 10.

Third and Second Safest Cities in Iowa

3. Sioux Center

Located in northwest Iowa, Sioux Center is one of the most remote cities in the Hawkeye State, but it is also the third safest city.

2. Norwalk

With a population of just 14,299, Norwalk is located just south of the Des Moines metro. Those smaller communities surrounding the DSM area have a real sense of community and little to no crime.

A shout-out to Eldridge

Cracking the top 10 safest cities in Iowa is Quad Cities’ own Eldridge. Located in northern Scott County, Eldridge is a great place to raise a family, play in parks, enjoy the community, and feel safe.

“We ranked the safest cities in Iowa based on the most recent FBI data on property and violent crime in places with populations over 5,000.”

They also looked at the following data points:

Asbury is actually a “suburb” of Dubuque. With a population of just over 6,000, Asbury has no murders or murders per 100,000. It is insanely safe and you can learn more about it on their website.

“Located in Iowa’s Dubuque County and part of the Dubuque Metropolitan Area, Asbury continues to set a model of safety with its impressive safest violent crime ranking. The city’s law enforcement and community engagement efforts have notably reduced the number of murders, rapes and robberies, with only an isolated case of aggravated assault.”
