WalletHub: Iowa among states with least at-risk youth

(Iowa) — Iowa ranks among the states in the U.S. with the lowest rates for at-risk youth, according to a national personal finance website.

WalletHub ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on 15 key metrics to identify the number of at-risk youth. The metrics included youth unemployment, share of disengaged youth, percentage of youth in the labor force, and more. Iowa ranked 48 out of 51, ranking well for youth participation in the labor force, ages 18-24, and low youth unemployment rates. The states with the highest at-risk youth are at the top of the list, meaning the states with the highest at-risk youth are Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arizona. The only states with lower at-risk youth than Iowa are Illinois, New Hampshire, and New Jersey, respectively.
