ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) – When the Denver Broncos welcomed fans back into the fold for the first time this year, the battle for a spot on the starting roster intensified.

Welcome to Training Camp 2024.

Sean Payton is entering his second season as head coach and has made it clear that he is looking for the best 53 players for the roster.

“I think young and hungry can be very dangerous,” Payton said after Friday’s practice. “I’m curious and excited to see how this team develops.”

The quarterbacks continued to rotate practice days to get reps with the first team. On Friday, fans got their first look at Zach Wilson in orange and blue. Jarrett Stidham and rookie Bo Nix followed.

When asked if he saw the Broncos having three quarterbacks on the roster this season, Payton said, “Possibly. Good question. Possibly.”

Extra points

  • Safety Brandon Jones pulled his hamstring, Sean Payton said after practice.
  • Cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who is up for a contract extension, said Denver has made it clear they want him here long-term. He didn’t set a deadline for contract talks.
  • Country music superstar Kenny Chesney attended training camp on Friday. This weekend marks Chesney’s sixth appearance at Empower Field at Mile High, the most in the stadium’s history. Chesney last performed at the Broncos’ stadium in 2022.

The Broncos’ training camp runs until mid-August and fans are welcome most days.
