The Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Pride event returns to the cities today

Burnham-On-Sea’s Pride event takes place today (Saturday 27 July) and offers a day of activities.

The event – ​​called Pride on Sea – returns for a second year and will kick off with a pride march from Highbridge Railway Station at 10.30am, along Market Street and Church Street to Burnham Road and past Apex Park, Marine Drive and the seafront, finishing at Manor Gardens, where entertainment will take place.

Festival Director Ruth Ackroyd said: “We’re delighted to be back in Burnham and Highbridge for our second annual Pride event. We’ve got an exciting line-up of acts taking to the stage, so it’s sure to be a day to remember.”

Hosted by Helen Scott and headlined by Boot Hill All Stars, the event takes place in the Manor Gardens from 12pm to 6pm.

There will be performances from artists from the west of the country including Corky, Ryder Emcee, Steve M, On the Case and drag performances from Nicholas Hoare, Jolene Dover and Aida H Dee.

The family-friendly event also features a range of stalls, food stands, a children’s activity area and the Drag Queen Story Hour.

Ruth added: “It’s no secret that Pride is about celebrating our differences and the things that bring us together. However, it’s also a protest and we can’t forget the challenges our community still faces in an increasingly polarised world. That’s why it’s more important than ever to celebrate and challenge Pride.”
