Peyton Manning is one of the hosts for NBC’s Olympic coverage and the famed quarterback was prepared.

Manning showed off the play-caller’s wristband he wore for NBC’s coverage of the opening ceremonies in Paris on Friday. He was prepared for the broadcast, just as he used to be when he was a player.

That may seem like a joke, but Manning had undoubtedly done his homework before the broadcast.

The former NFL QB shared information about many of the participating countries, as well as the athletes from the United States. He had communicated with many of the American athletes and was able to weave some anecdotes into the broadcast based on his text message correspondence with them.

If there was any doubt about how Manning — and, to a certain extent, Tom Brady — would fare as announcers, we may have our answer. Combining preparation with personality is usually a good formula for success in radio.
