Springfield Police Arrest Teen in Connection with Shooting

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police arrested a 16-year-old male suspect Thursday in connection with a shooting that seriously injured a man on Berkshire Avenue.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Berkshire Avenue after reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, they administered first aid to an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds before transporting him to Baystate Medical Center.

Under the leadership of Captain Trent Duda, the Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau launched an investigation.

Detectives identified and arrested the teenage suspect on the 0-100 block of Geneva Street.

During the search for other possible suspects, a firearm was found on the 0-100 block of Steuben Street.

The juvenile suspect has been arrested. However, details of his identity, the photo of the charge and the charge are not being released due to his age.

Authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
