Six Boise State football players help out at Canyon Ridge High School camp

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The football season kicks off in a little over a month, but first, a handful of Boise State Broncos will travel to the Magic Valley for a weekend camp at Canyon Ridge High School.

Tight end Matt Lauter, quarterback Maddux Madsen, wideout Prince Strachan, linebacker Jack Ripp, fullback Tyler Crowe and defensive end Ahmed Hassanein traveled to Twin Falls for training camp, as did a handful of other current BSU coaches and former players.

The goal of the camp was to improve the skills of aspiring American football players in the Magic Valley and to teach them lifelong lessons in respect, teamwork and work ethic.

A Bronco stressed the importance of educating the next generation.

“It means everything to me, it really means a lot because these kids look up to me and want to be in my shoes and want to learn and learn how to get there to have the opportunity to get a scholarship, play at Boise, play on the blue turf, so it also means the world to me to represent my team here at Boise State and just give back to the community,” Hassanein said.

Friday was only day one for the older (12-18) age group, as they will finish off Saturday afternoon with a 7-a-side. The younger campers (ages 6-11) will have their only session early Saturday morning.
