But that dominance is no longer a given. Team USA narrowly defeated Australia in Tokyo in 2021, taking home 30 total medals and 11 golds to the Aussies’ 21 and nine. Then, at the 2023 world championships, Australia outscored Team USA by a margin of 13-7.
