Sunny Saturday with temperatures close to average

WHow we track

  • Seasonal temperatures this weekend
  • Limited chance of rain
  • It’s going to be really hot next week

Temperatures will be in the high 60s and low 70s with mostly clear skies this morning. An area of high pressure from the west will move over us, pushing our temperatures higher later in the weekend.

Highs for the afternoon will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. This will be our coolest day for a while. Sunday will be a bit warmer in the mid 90s. There is a slight chance that we could see a few isolated showers or storms over the weekend, mainly in the evening hours. We may even hold on to that chance for the coming week.

The upper level jet stream continues to bring wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeastern Kansas. While not as prominent as the past few days, we still look “hazy” and our sunrises/sunsets have a red tint.

The heat really starts to pick up on Monday, reaching over 30 degrees for days. Nighttime lows don’t offer much relief either, as we struggle to ‘cool’ below 80°. Make sure you take it easy next week, drink lots of water and find ways to stay cool!
