Pirates Minor League Report: Solometo Faces Tough Challenges Upon Return

Anthony Solometo, the Pirates’ best left-handed pitcher, returned to the game Friday after more than a month on the Development List, tagged for three runs in 3.2 innings for Low-A Bradenton. The Marauders lost 8-1 as their bats similarly struggled.

Triple-A Indianapolis continued to roll offensively, collecting 17 hits as they defeated the Iowa Cubs 7-3. Four of those hits came from Alika Williams, who still has a hot bat, while Henry Davis made his presence known with a pair of doubles.

Right-hander Thomas Harrington worked 5.2 scoreless innings, retiring five batters on 91 pitches. The Altoona Curve defeated the Erie Sea Wolves 3-1, scoring twice in the ninth inning on a triple by Yoyner Fajardo and a sacrifice fly by the ever-reliable Charles McAdoo.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers lost 6-4 to the Asheville Tourists. Termarr Johnson, the 2022 first-round pick, hit a home run to center field with two outs in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback after starter Derek Diamond allowed six runs in the first three innings.
