Prince William’s Heartbreaking Plea to Princess Diana About Father Charles

The marriage of King Charles III and Princess Diana went spectacularly wrong, amid rumours of affairs and mutual discontent behind the palace walls.

The couple, who married in a fairytale ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral in 1981, separated in 1992 and finalised their divorce in 1996 – just a year before Diana’s tragic death in Paris. This transition period was extremely difficult for Charles and Diana, who had to deal with their personal grief in the public eye.

In his new biography Catherine, Princess of Wales, royal correspondent Robert Jobson has shed some light on William and Diana’s complicated relationship, and the heir to the throne’s desperate plea to his mother…

In a passage published by the Mail Online, Jobson spoke of William’s “heartbreak” amid the drama of his parents’ turbulent divorce, revealing that: “William’s relationship with his mother was also more complex than is generally acknowledged.” According to Jobson, Diana leaned on William, using him as her “emotional crutch,” and the difficult family dynamics took their toll on the young prince. Jobson continued: “He asked Diana to stop saying negative things to him about his father because he didn’t want to take sides. And he has admitted that he was sometimes embarrassed by his mother’s behavior.”

This revealing biography, available to buy from August 1, is described as a ‘revelatory’ book that ‘tells the full story of how Catherine, Princess of Wales, became the universally admired woman she is today, and offers a closer look at her and William’s ‘modern fairy tale’.

According to the biography’s description: “Her self-deprecating humor, willingness to laugh at themselves, solid work ethic – along with her husband William, warmth and approachability – the dynamic duo of this royal family have become the most popular members of the royal family. But it has not come without its fair share of commentary and scandal, most notably with recent revelations about the ‘Fab Four’s’ relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as her own health problems.” You can currently pre-order a hardback copy of Catherine, the Princess of Wales for £15 on Amazon.
