Gate 1 at Fort Eisenhower closed to incoming traffic after partial roof collapses

Augusta, Ga. (WJBF) – Due to a structure collapse, the incoming lanes of Gate 1 are closed for safety reasons until further notice.

According to Deputy Public Affairs Officer Anne Bowman, the roof of the Gate 1 shelter partially collapsed sometime Saturday morning, forcing the closure of the two incoming lanes for safety reasons. No one was injured in the incident.

Although the outbound lanes at Gate 1 are open, anyone wishing to enter the station must use Gate 5 or 6 for the time being.

Officials say they do not currently know when the inbound lanes at Gate 1 will reopen, but that will not happen until they are confident it is safe to do so.
