That pretty much sums up a great year for the Bix 7. The Bix main event just wrapped up and since it’s a big anniversary for the race, there were a number of new additions to the weekend of race additions and safety updates. It really was another great weekend. We made sure to grab some photos from the race.

More about the Bix this year.

Overall this year was another great year as we looked at safety and party. Here were a few new additions.

Seniors (50 years and older) can participate in the Bechtel Trust Senior Bixwhich starts on Tuesday, July 23rd at LeClaire Park and will be a 2.5km flat surface. Seniors who register for this event can also participate in the Quick Bix or the full Bix 7 race for free.

The Bix 7 will be this year the first race with 2 Olympic gold medalists, 1 Olympic silver medalist and “Bix Billy” (who have run the Bix annually since 1980) all running in the same race. The gold medalists are Frank Shorter (1982 Olympics), Joan Benoit Samuelson (1984 Olympics) and silver medalist Meb Keflezighi (2004 Olympics). You can see more here.
