2026 4-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett chooses Auburn over LSU

LSU has some significant recruiting momentum, but the organization missed out on a player it thought it would never land.

Four-star 2026 linebacker JaMichael Garrett from Gulf Shores, Alabama signed with Auburn over LSU on Saturday. AU was considered the odds-on favorite to land the nation’s top 120 prospect, though LSU did get a crystal ball prediction to land him on Friday after his visit to Baton Rouge from 247Sports’ Bryce Koon.

The Tigers hoped the visit would have a big impact, but just a day later he announced he was going to the Plains.

Garrett is a talented player who would have given LSU a nice boost in the 2026 class, which currently has just two players: defensive lineman Richard Anderson and safety Jakai Anderson (no relation).
